Ayurveda is attributed to Dhanvantari, the physician to the gods in VEDIC mythology & scriptures, who received it from Brahma. Its earliest concepts were set out in the portion of the Vedas known as the Atharvaveda (c. 2nd millennium bce). (IMHO: “Hindu” mythology only has Itihas इतिहासः – history, mainly epic poems like Ramayana and Mahabharata), while ancient VEDIC (6,000 years plus) is independent of religious; truly Sanaatan Dharma, universal consciousness (where as religions are more recent phenomena ~ 2,000 years).
